Thomas The Train

This was my first time making a cake for
the wonderful charity "Icing Smiles"
they are a non-profit organization that
work to provide a cake for sick children
or siblings of sick children.
I got my call to help out and couldn't wait
to make this cake for Isaiah!

Friendly Frank Cupcakes...

I made these cute little Frankenstein cupcakes
for my mother-in-law who runs a daycare
and was having a Halloween party for
the little kids.
I simply used a box chocolate cake for these
as kids mostly just lick the frosting off anyways;)
I had some leftover fondant from the
Halloween baby shower cake I made
a few post back
and I just used that to make the little Frankenstein
people. Of course I had 5 boy versions & 3 girl versions
so there would be no fighting! (LOL)

we saw online & took from those our favorite parts
& made the colors girlie.

I love this cake it was so fun to make & each detail
made it sweeter:)

The cake itself is all chocolate
The bottom tier is a 10" 2 layer with butter cream filling
The top tier is a 6" 3 layer with a 1/2 sport ball pan
to make the rounded head shape, all filled with butter cream.

DIY Fireman Halloween costume...

This is my son's Halloween costume from last
year...he just had to be a fireman & I didn't want
some cheesy Wal-mart fireman costume
so I came up with this

I got the coat from the goodwill its a mans
sport jacket.
Then I took some yellow duct tape
and did the collar, front, bottom & sleeves
like a real fireman jacket
I added the little ID badge from a dollar tree toy
and the American flag was an iron on patch

This is the back
 I used iron on letters
for his name

No fireman is complete without his firetruck
This is from a box
I painted it red added some black plates for the wheels
and yellow cupcake liners for the headlights

This is my little fireman on his party

This is him on Halloween night
trick-or-treating
while pushing his baby brother
isn't that just the sweetest?

Less messy sand...

What do we do on summer vacation?
we made colored sand from rice!

All we did was take some rice
scoop it into a baggie
and add a few drops of food color
Each kid had fun coating each grain of rice
in their desired color

I put it on some of my baking dishes and
we sat it outside in the hot sun to dry for an hour
then it was playtime!!

Here is the tutorial on how exactly to make it:

Party time with Elmo...

This is the cake I made for my little guy who turned 2!
He loves Elmo & I made him this big Elmo cake that
was so bright & colorful  then as I was
trying to snap a picture I hit the cake board
& it went right in the floor at 2AM!!!

What does a mommy do? I can't have my son disappointed on his birthday
& I wasn't about to spring for a yucky Wal-mart cake with no Elmo
So this mommy stayed up all night and re-made this cake...

Happy Birthday
to my baby boy ADAM
I love you!

Batman Cupcakes...

Today my middle son is 5 years old & he has two loves
in his life Batman & John Cena!
Since his party is centered around the WWE I am saving the
John Cena cake for that event (watch for that post!)
I decided to go with Batman for his class party
I scored a great deal on the plates & treat bags at
Big Lots for only $.50!!!
Since his mommy is a baker I made him & all 18 of
his little classmates these batman cupcakes & packaged
them up individually.

(close-up)

The cupcakes are chocolate with a Vanilla Butter Cream
& hand made fondant batman faces!
These little suckers were very time consuming
5 hours on just the toppers!
But for one of mama's babies I would move mountains:)

Every year on my children's birthdays
I get out my giant cupcake pan & make
them each their own giant cupcake that
they can either eat or dive into face first!:)
this was Caden's batman giant cupcake!!

Happy Birthday Caden

Minnie Mouse first birthday...

This is my favorite cake so far!!
I made this for my husband's cousin's
daughter's first birthday...lol I know that was
a long explanation!

Anyways Harley's mama asked me to make her a Minnie
theme first birthday cake in chocolate & she wanted
a smash cake to go with it. This design was inspired
from a pinterest find the only substitution was the color
of the number 1 and the color of the name
Harley's mom wanted them to match some of the colors
found in the party plates!

This cake is a 10" round chocolate 2 layer
and an 8" round chocolate 2 layer
the top layer is a 1/2 sports ball pan with chocolate cake
all are frosted in butter cream and
covered in fondant

The smash cake is my giant cupcake pan
the bottom of the cupcake is chocolate cake
and the top is strawberry cake.
I frosted the cupcake in teal butter cream and
added a cute pink fondant cherry on top!

but what really made me feel good is
when the birthday boy said "look it's my
Handy Manny cake!!"

Swamp People theme vacation...

Last week we had our family vacation to Myrtle Beach
it was so much fun! This is our adorable little house we stayed
in for the week.

The kids at Broadway at the Beach!

  The kids at Alligator Adventure
this was totally the coolest part of our trip
we all really enjoyed seeing the alligators up close & since
my husband is obsessed with that show "Swamp People"
it kinda became the theme of our vacation:)

See what I mean? (LOL)
while on vacation it was also my husbands birthday
so I brought all my cake making supplies & made him a
"Swamp People" theme cake!
He totally loved it & it kept with our vacation theme:)

Good-bye Ocean Lakes
we had a blast & will see you again next year!!

What will it BEE?

I loved making this cake!!
A friend from high school asked me to make a bee theme
gender reveal cake for her expecting friend.
I love this concept of having a party to announce the sex of a baby.
The expecting couple cuts into a cake and the filling being either blue or pink tells
them what their baby will be!

This is a 10" round & 6" round chocolate cake
the filling is American buttercream & covered in fondant
with fondant accents

* This cake revealed a baby boy!
~ Congrats to the Parents-to-be:)

I also had to add a cute
fondant bee & ladybug:)

Spider-Man Cake ...

I made this cake for an old high school friend's nephew
He loves Spider-Man so I purchased a Spider-Man candle
from AC Moore to put on the top
The cake is a 9" vanilla cake with butter cream & fondant
I made all the details from fondant as well.

(Side view)
* The blue is more of a royal blue like Spider-Man but my flash makes
it look like this ocean blue

(Front view)
* the cake is level but sitting on a chair
